Wretched Worst
Lexington, Kentucky’s Wretched Worst make some of the most enveloping and down right scary noise-rock out there—think the sound of Stabbed in the Face-era Wolf Eyes taking to its sludgiest extremes. They have a new record forthcoming on Animal Disguise and have released work through 905 Tapes, Chondritic Sound and Gods of Tundra.

Form A Log
America’s premiere cassette manipulation trio, Form A Log, have reconvened after a two-year hiatus. Featuring Ren Schofield (God Willing/Container), Noah Anthony (Social Junk/Mirror Men), and Rick Weaver (Dinner Music/New Flesh), Form A Log are currently working on a full-length record for John Elliott’s Editions Mego imprint, Spectrum Spools.

Opponents
Opponents are by far the hardest-to-pigeonhole synthesists working in the Brooklyn Underground, producing a sound that Prison Tatt Records honcho Wm. M. Berger describes as “grimy electronics rendered on vintage synths, environments reminiscent of Schnitzler, vintage Cabaret Voltaire, and The Golden Hour of the Future.

Last week, I interviewed Whitehouse founder William Bennett on East Village Radio prior to his Cut Hands gig in Brooklyn. We talked about Madonna, Mudd Club, Steve Stapleton, and Robin Trower, among other things.
